Yeap - Have a windows box for the initial install and pointing of the 
satellite. That's the only time it is needed. Then after that plug in a 
router to it. I have a WRT54G plugged into mine and it works perfectly. 
I now have a wireless network and roughly 12 machines of various sorts 
connected to it. A knowledgable Star Band installer will tell you the 
software is not needed.  Frankly a dual boot machine will do it. In fact 
my network setup here is pretty sweet as I have installed the sveasoft 
firmware and I can easily cover about an acre wirelessly.
