[nmglug] .gz good times

Dears Ladies and Gentlemen of Glug;
Hoping to impress the ladies with the following.
Having just installed "HOWTO" in "doc"
the .gz extensions opened by "links" open in .gz
rather than in "text" as they had before I made the new improvement.How do I 
re-instate the "text" open.
I suspect by a wayward 'apt-' package.anyone knowledgeable in this corner of 
the Realm,
