The best bet is searching also for a USB to Serial that works with  
the app you want it to,
it's not like a good usb to serial will work for every app that needs  
a serial,

e.g. for programming pics, I had to use an old laptop with serial,
no luck with adaptors that where working fine with other serial devices,
