[nmglug] upgrading to Edgy

I'm running Dapper PPC on my TiBook and am considering upgrading to Edgy
to get some of the new stuff, like Glibc-2.4. I wanted to try SeaMonkey
as I like having a suite for internet/mail/calendar/etc (tho I don't
like the old Mozilla suite too much!). After my last, albeit botched,
upgrade to Dapper (in which I creatively blended cd and internet
repositories, thereby breaking many things but Sam saved me!) I'm
worried about breaking my current, stable and highly altered set up. I
read that the best method is:

      Upgrading using Update Manager

If you want to upgrade from 6.06 LTS to 6.10, run the following command
(either via ALT-F2 or a terminal):

gksu "update-manager -c"

The *-c* (or equivalently *--check-dist-upgrades*) switch instructs
Update Manager to look for upgrades. By default, the Ubuntu 6.06 LTS
release will not offer that automatically because of its long support
cycle and high stability.

I would greatly appreciate some experience on this before I take the
plunge and if some believe that sticking with Dapper is a better
alternative then I'll do that.

Thanks!

Brian
