[nmglug] lossless ripping?

These days I think drives are big enough that I can rip CDs with a
lossless format instead of high bitrate ogg or mp3.

I'm trying to figure out how I should do this.  I guess I'm looking
for a format that:

* is lossless

* is well supported by applications like grip (I don't mind switching
  to another free s/w ripper)

* has a convenient way to re-burn a full CD from it

Does anyone have the scoop on this issue and advice to give me?
