You might just copy the files as wav files to your hard drive.

Or if you want flac,

apt-get install flac
You can use grip to rip and encode flac files, no need to change to something
else unless you want to.

I use Sound Juicer for ripping. I have also used KAudioCreator. Both seem to
work about the same.

Testing using a sample track results in the following file sizes:
.ogg 	9.1 MB
.flac	55.3 MB
.wav	79.8 MB

Most of my collection is in ogg and some mp3. I find it very easy to burn CDs
starting from a playlist in Amarok. Amarok needs K3B installed to actually do
the burning. The ogg or mp3 files are converted back to wav before burning an
audio CD. I can't hear and degradation in sound quality on the burned audio CDs.

You should try Amarok. It has way more features than grip. I particularly like 
the context tab were you can get album information, lyrics and wikipedia 
information on the artist.
