I never used endian, so mine won't be an educated opinion,
I am using ipcop since about two years,
last reboot was a year ago, for configuration reasons,

it is extremely flexible,
I have like 4 custom iptables script lines that handles the traffic I
cannot from the visual interface,

Installing the plugins is really straight forward, not a problem

The only downside if any, is that you have to install the openVPN
clients on the windows machines,
it gets a little trickier on vista clients 'cause you need to be real
root, not fake admin,

If you have 5 minutes I can show it to you in action.
