Greeting All:

Like to know if the following approach is the "way to go" in eliminating
a constant fan run? I have read the loosly related nmglug archives Nov,
2006.

Some specifics:
Installation is Ubuntu 8.10
Sensor Winbond w83627/HF/F/HG/G ,driver w83627hf
ran sensor-detect,last line alternately Y/N.
also good measure ran depmod -a.
and /etc/init.d/lm-sensors restart.
"acpi -t or -tf not supported" returned by test inquiry.
entering "sensors" in text gets:

thermistor
cpu0_vid: +1.750 V
restarted computer, xsensors does not open.

Am I going down a correct garden path, in following this current
approach, attempting to regulate the computer fan characteristics?
                                     Best,Anthony K
