[nmglug] installs and magic words

To NMglug: I have continued with the Debian install and it is getting
better. Wireless works. Putting the card in before Grub starts and
then letting the KDE network manager take a little time to load and
survey my location has shown it works. I have done 2 updates and also
had to update the word processor in Koffice, for some reason it
wouldn't open documents, but the update via Synaptic picked up a
missing lib file and that was it.
Amarok didn't seem to work, but instead of going the same route I
chose to load Audacious, which is more familiar to me.
Now I am still logging out via command line as the GUI icons for
logout and shutdown don't work. The scripts called look correct and
the check box for "Everybody" enabled to shutdown is checked, but
still not working. I probably have a combination of improper settings
between Plasma, KDE and KDM. Once at Kdm, the shutdown button works.
But at least I can keep working and do the shutdowns as I am.
I will try to bring this laptop to Thursday's meeting for discussion
with those interested. I prefer menus and user options, so I think I
will continue with this Debian install as the way for me to do my next
udgrade of Ubuntu!
