Hi GLUGERs
My migration to the new 18.04 install is going great so far. I attached
my cloned drive and copied over some files and hidden files for
profiles, like this Thunderbird one that recreated all of my address
books, contacts and calendars . Except it is the newest T-Bird version
instead of the old version I had to run on my borked system. Also, since
I have a Firefox account when I opened FF I only had to log in to my
account and all my profile was integrated. I use the ERS verion because
the vanilla version doesn't support my add-ons, like scrapbook. But I
have all of my history, and add-ons automagically.
So I'm pretty happy other than losing my miscellany folder but I've
survived this sort of thing before. Now I just need to set up a regular
backup and actually use it. I had "back in time" a while back but I
don't know that it even exists anymore. I'll ck. out other apps for
that. I could use a script and after I resize my linux partition I'll
have plenty of room for my home directory to backup to.
So this has been pretty painless. If I could restore my Miscellany
directory that would be a real winner but it is nowhere, even in deleted
files that I can see with testdisk. It's the only major loss.
That's the saga.
Brian
