Hi NMGLuger's, Just read an interesting article about Kali Linux and the
change to remove 'run as Root' as the default login. That's right, Kali as
an OS may have used a root login as the default because it had a certain
aim when run from a CD as a troubleshooter system. This helps me understand
why I was a little unsure what Kali was "up to" when I first saw it in use.
I came to Linux via Knoppix, a live CD (years ago a CD was enough) and had
fun using the elevated privileges to hack into my own former OS. Of course
the experience was good for learning and I eventually opted for Ubuntu
installs as my "go to" favorite. I am now getting more accustomed to
Debian, though not recommending Debian for the new user.
I still have fun with live systems, Knoppix included, though I now have a
very nice Debian 10 live usb and would recommend that to anyone wanting to
learn about Gnu/Linux systems.
Speaking of talking to others, the termination of Microsoft support for one
popular system has given me a few opportunities to spread the Freedom of
Gnu/Linux. How about any of you? Has anybody asked for release from the
tedium of un-free software?
See you Thursday, Ted P.
