We had 6 in attendance and had interesting talk. We did a hardware exchange, set a root and user password for a new comer. Matrix and Mastodon were mentioned as well as some off-topic chatter about things far and wide. It was a good meeting. There is some thought of considering another location for our meetings, but no thorough discussions were had. What do you think? Would you come to meetings at a different location? And what are you working on? Ted P. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Is anyone interested in taking this off my hands? I have stopped reading or referring to it. I can re-cycle it as waste paper, but I wanted to se if any history fans want it for the niche it filled for several years. Let me know if you want it and will either meet me at the NMGLUG meeting on 10/24 or will pay postage and packaging to get it to you via mail or some other means. It is in "good" condition: cover is intact, there may be some markings inside, but not too many. I have modernized all my work to systemd based versions and find information I use via rtfm or the Internet. I consider myself a personal workstation user, so I'm not too demanding. Therefore I don't need complex scripting or other deep techniques for what I do, which the "Cookbook" provided in great detail. Do you think that it would be appropriate for me? Here's a description of where I'm at: I recall that I asked questions when I was getting started with Linux a few years ago. You suggested that i get a couple book or take some courses. I did not do it at that time because I was overwhelmed with new Linux stuff and sorting through information overload, trying desperately to distill the essential things I needed to know at the moment in order to function well, and also because my life was already overly full in other departments outside of Linux. Now, I have settled into Linux, becoming highly proficient in some limited arenas. I have more time, also, and I would like to learn more Linux stuff, but I'm not sure how. In gratitude, LeRoy -- There is something glorious birthing within all of us. I am the Love of God, no matter what.BSA LeRoy Diener 213-LEROYIZ 213-537-6949 https://leroydiener.com On Thu, 2024-10-17 at 12:41 -0600, Ted Pomeroy wrote: > NMGLUGers, I have a copy of the?
