I read a thread where a user disabled journaling and it worked, while
another chowned and chmodded his drive and hosed it. That's my reading
of it anyway:

I read the same thread and frankly was confused about the outcome. I
don't really want to ruin the drive for OS X as I am dual booting. I
may resize the partitions anyway just to get more storage on the one
partition that I can write to in Linux.<br>
