That being said I don't believe the Hurd actually runs on bare metal, and iirc it only runs in a vm. Another thing to consider when trying to install guix is that the official channel only supports the linux-libre kernel and I think there's something fundamentally broken that means you will not be able to run linux-libre on an AMD ryzen processor. I've had success running linux-libre on a rockpro64 but I wouldn't recommend that being your first attempt at installing it.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, I'm no expert but I've used Guix in anger enough to be a guiding hand.

On Tue, Apr 18, 2023, at 18:43, Brian O'Keefe wrote:

Howdy

Has anyone run Guix? linux kernel or Guix running on Hurd. I downloaded the Hurd
version and got a live qcow image that I could run on Qemu but
that I couldn't install. I tried repeatedly but couldn't even get
the Hurd version running again. I gave up and downloaded the .iso
for Guix/linux. It is now downloading many packages in a VBox VM.
The .iso wouldn't finish installing with Qemu, my preference, so I
bailed on that.

Anyway I thought some might find it interesting and maybe someone
can get the Hurd version up and running. (It ran fine the first
