Lee, try a couple of tests:
You want to see if this is an issue of DNS name resolution. When booted
up with the apparently faulty Mepis, open up a console, and issue a
'dig' command, something similar to dig www.cnn.com
This will get you the IP address for www.cnn.com Then, input this
numerical IP address into your webbrowser, and see whether you can then
go directly to that website without problems. Alternately, issue
an nslookup www.cnn.com for similar results. You can also use a
web-based nslookup utility, like one at
http://www.all-nettools/toolbox Take that numerical IP address you get
using the nslookup utility there, and enter the IP address directly into
your email program or web browser.
Almost certainly, you're having name resolution problems. The default
DSL modems which Qwest issues seem to have bad problems with IP version 6
Do these tests and let us know the results!
