[nmglug] hardware packaging

Hello ,
It really bugs me when I buy hardware ... like a mouse or hard drive
and on the box I see logos indicating Winders and Mac compatibility but
no mention of Linux. I have , on several occasions , emailed the
manufacture and complained and pointed out that they are doing
themselves a disservice. I know this is a small point to bitch about ,
but I feel it is important that people see the tux logo with the words
"Linux Compatible". This will put Linux in the back of peoples minds and
just ease choosing new hardware for my Linux boxes. So if this bugs any
of you guys , email them ... or give me the box and i will email them.
Also , some vendors say they don't claim Linux compatibility because
they don't want to support Linux. So i ask them ... why do you have to
support Linux once you claim that your hardware in fact works with Linux
and Linux drivers can be found? Really , how much support does it take
to claim Linux compatibility on a hard drive or simple mouse?
So in close ... as all you who have read my post know...
I'm borderline illiterate ... and childish! lol ... so I was hoping at
the next meeting , we as a group could create a generic letter to send
to manufactures who piss me off. One that would be coherent and full of
good reasons to claim Linux compatibility.
thanks,
