This position is for a Systems/Server Administrator who has Linux and
Windows administrative experience. JID operates on a mostly OSS and
Free software platform. Core applications are Apache, Tomcat,
Sendmail, Postfix, Mailman, and Informix. In house application
development is in Java with Hibernate, using Extreme Programming
methodology.

Administrative Office of the Courts

Network Systems Administrator

The Judicial Information Division (JID) of the Administrative Office
of the Courts is currently seeking 1 (1) permanent, full-time
motivated applicant to fill the vacancy for a Network Systems
Administrator (working title) in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This position
is under the direction of the Systems Manager to provide engineering
and technical telecommunications support for the statewide LAN, WAN
and frame relay systems. There are two levels of this position. The
selected candidate will be slotted into the level based on the
candidate's qualifications. The two levels are Network Systems
Administrator (current hiring range $45,227 - $56,534 (DOE) annually)
and Network Systems Administrator Senior (current hiring range $55,832
- $69,790 (DOE) annually). Representative Duties: This position is
under the direction of the Systems Manager to perform network and
systems administration tasks using the UNIX ( Linux) and Windows
operating systems. This position is responsible for monitoring,
managing, and maintaining a large distributed network and system
servers and hosts. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and
systems hardware and software problems. Analyze and diagnosis system
failures, recover and restore operating systems and database file
systems. Install and configure operating system software and hardware.

QUALIFICATIONS


NETWORK SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR.  Qualifications; Education and
experience equivalent to:

Bachelors' degree in business administration or management, computer
science, information technology (IT)-related engineering, or other
related field. Education Substitution: Four (4) years relevant
experience, and/or a combination of relevant experience and technical
education, or a network engineering certification will substitute for
education on a year for year basis. Experience: Zero to three (3)
years of experience.

Knowledge of server operating systems and services, network
operations; new technology and tools; system and network security
backup and recovery strategies and procedures; computer software
including word processing, spreadsheets; documentation tools;
troubleshooting techniques and methodology; end users needs and level
of access; file and database configurations, maintenance and
replication; diverse applications; hardware and software
installations; web services, developer tools and system automation.

Skill in maneuvering within the Internet; discussing equipment with
vendors; communicating effectively with diverse parties both orally
and in writing using technical and nontechnical language; organizing
and setting priorities; researching; determining which technology
advancements will benefit the judiciary; multitasking; meeting
deadlines under pressure; working independently; comparing alternative
systems and analyzing costs and benefits; monitoring security devices;
diagnosing and analyzing network issues and security requirements;
determining appropriate level of user access; logically design and
diagnose hardware, software and network systems using schematics,
write technical manuals and other instructions.

Ability to write technical manuals and other instructions; install
standard software; establish and maintain cooperative working
relationships.

NETWORK SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SENIOR.  Qualifications; Education and
experience equivalent to:

Bachelors' degree in business administration or management, computer
science, information technology (IT)-related engineering, or other
related field. Education Substitution: Four (4) years relevant
experience, and/or a combination of relevant experience and technical
education will substitute for education on a year for year basis.
Experience: Five (5) years of general experience in systems design, or
administration, network administration or support activities in a
multi-user environment of which two (2) years must be specific
experience as a systems or network administrator in a multi-user
client server environment. Experience Substitution: Additional
relevant education at the Master's Degree level may substitute for
experience at a rate of 30 semester hours equals one (1) year of
experience. Education may not be substituted for the specific
experience required.

Knowledge of server operating systems and services, network operations

establishing and maintaining working relationships.

Ability to facilitate project initiatives; logically design and
diagnose hardware, software and network systems using schematics,
technical manuals and other written technical instructions; installing
software.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

UNIX/Linux operating system configuration and management, with a
minimum of 2 years experience in UNIX/Linux administration; Windows OS
and Active Directory configuration and management, with a minimum of 2
years experience in Windows System Administration.

Experience integrating Windows and Linux; Web server configuration and
management; Problem solving and trouble shooting network and systems
issues; Backup and recovery methodology and disaster recovery
planning.

Considerable experience and knowledge are required for the following:

Network systems administration for a large distributed network of
routers, switches, and servers; Systems analysis, with excellent
skills for communicating ideas, technical writing, and documentation;
Windows SQL server administration.
