I don't think you need to boot Windows to get the data files, if that makes
your life simpler.

Subject: [nmglug] Help with transition from Windoze 98 to Linux

I have a friend with an antiquated Windoze 98 box. I donated to him a Linux
PC, and got it up and running for him yesterday.

The problem is, he did not get the stuff off the Windows box which he wanted
to keep. The Windows box only has a floppy drive, no cd burner, so moving
this crap from one box to the other the normal way will be way tedious.

If I pull the hard drive from the windows box, jumper it as a slave and put
it in the Linux box as a second hard drive, will Grub recognize it and allow
the option to boot from the Windows drive? Or does Grub just look at the
primary hard drive?

Lee
