What make and model of server do you have? Do you have a cooling system
in the room that the server is in or some type of hot air return, to get
the hot air out?

Subject: [nmglug] noise reduction

We just got a new server. Wow is it loud.
Louder than a typical vacuum cleaner!

Does anybody have any advice for reducing noise from this box?
We moved it to a walk-in closet type room. It is still
very loud. Are there some noise-reducing curtains or similar
lower-cost measures we can take to damp the noise?

Upcoming question: If we put stuff around the rack for
noise reduction, how much ventilation fan will we need to
keep it cool?
How do we reduce the noise from those fans? ;-(
