Jeff. do not have have original install tapes for XP only restore cds so I 
am not certain I can utilize your good suggestion with the materials with 
which I have at hand,thanks.
Anthony Mtz. I do not have the rescue disc you suggest I have now sent for 
it.thanks.Looking over Knoppix 5.1.1 of which I have a copy that disk does 
include Gparted and qtparted.I have taken another look at these after 
reading your suggestion.
dev/hda1          Fat32
dev.hda2          extended
      dev/hda5     ntfs
      dev/hda6     ext3
 unallocated.
contemplating making dev/hda1 larger.

Sam, I suggested using "Wine" as perhaps a method of loading the extensivly 
available windows ham radio software onto ubuntu or debian
Since,to my untrained eye, the partitions do not seem  to be contiguious, I 
could extend dev/hda6 to accomidate the contents of "Wine", what do you 
think?.
