Job Description: Deskop Support Specialist

Bioneers, a nonprofit organization that promotes practical environmental 
solutions and innovative social strategies for restoring the Earth and 
communities has an immediate job opening for a Desktop Support 
Specialist to provide computing support for staff members in the Lamy 
New Mexico office.  This will be a full-time salaried position with 
benefits..  The prospective candidate should be familiar with both Apple 
Macintosh computers, the OS X operating system, and IBM-compatible PC's 
running the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems (XP, Vista, 
etc.), though the primary exposure will be with Macs and OS X.  The 
successful applicant will be asked to complete tasks such as; resolving 
printing problems, troubleshooting software application issues, 
answering user questions, assisting with email problems and/or business 
application support (Entourage/Word/Excel and office productivity 
software), diagnosing and resolving various user support issues, and 
moving and setting-up computers.  A solid working knowledge of basic 
computer components and experience with their installation, set-up, 
configuration and maintenance thereof is expected.  Candidates should be 
familiar with the set-up, deployment and maintenance of Ethernet 
networks.  The successful candidate will have access to a senior-level 
systems administrator for limited assistance and training in resolving 
more technically advanced user support problems.

The successful candidate should have the ability to multitask, deal 
effectively with rapidly shifting priorities, deadlines, and assist 
staff members of varying skill levels with a calm, patient and helpful 
attitude.

Additional skills such as experience with TCP/IP based ethernet 
networks, printing and file sharing in a networked computing 
environment, and/or exposure to Unix/Linux, VPN's, NAS file servers and 
systems administration abilities are a plus.
