[nmglug] Any Security Specialists Out there?

I've been checking on a few packages, and there is a lot of information 
out there and I find myself, well, mostly confused.

I want to add another layer of security to my network, and have read 
about several different solutions for Event Correlation and other 
network security measures.  An interesting package is ossim.  Does 
anyone have any experience with this?  I've tried installing, but I've 
found that it is a bit confusing to get anything other than snort 
working on it.  I'm hoping that as the project matures the documentation 
will get better, or I will suddenly have a ton of freetime (without 
becoming unemployed of course) in which I'll be able to dig down and get 
a good idea of how it all works. (I should add in all fairness that I 
haven't had some spare time lately to check its current status, it may 
be better than it was!)
