[nmglug] Grub2 (ain't too new)

Sam is correct in so far as the installed kernel loads,the rub is in
using the package manager to load suggested updates,which includes a
newer kernel.
Ubuntu 9.10 does not find that newly updated kernel and stops.
Tried several web fixes without success,thus the end run back to the
originally installed kernel.Removing the problem by allowing ubuntu to
recognize the updated kernel was the inspiration for my post. A
