[nmglug] Advice, please, for selecting modem and router

I avoid all-in-one devices. I'd buy separate devices:
- modem device (DSL/Cable/Fixed Wireless)
- router
- Access Point
I see DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems at Thrift Stores on a pretty regular basis
for under $10.
Lately, I've used MikroTik 951 and/or Ubiquiti EdgeRouterX devices for
routering.
Currently I'm using a couple Engenius APs to cover different parts of
the house. Each is hard-wired back to the router.
