[nmglug] some more help?

Hi all,
I gave up with the woody, now I am trying sarge,
it install fine from the CD #1 but did not recognize the network device 
at all,
is on a dell inspiron 2650, and it'a 3com adapter that all other 
installs recognized with no problem at all.
Is there any authomatic something to probe it?
