Because of the rules explained by 'man apt_preferences', it won't be the
version chosen by apt-get by default. You'll have to ask for that
version explicitly in order to get it. The easiest way to do that is to
use 'aptitude'. Start it as non-root, and choose "Become root" from
it's menu, or become root first, and then run it. Do that before you
pick packages, or it will lose your non-default version selections after
becoming root (an annoying mis-feature). Use 'u' to refresh the
Packages list.

Search for openoffice with '/' (as in 'less' or 'vi'; '\' to search
again) and press 'Enter' over it to "go inside of the package". Push
'End' to go to the bottom, and see if the new version is one of the ones
offered. Select that version, and use '+' to select it, 'Enter' over it
to change the dependency display to show that version's dependencies,
and hand-pick the ones lit up in red.

'g' will get your selections and install them.
