Thanks Ed. I was checking the boards and discovered the same and that
would explain why these partitions were accessible in Hoary Ubuntu and
they are now not as the kernel has been updated. I primarily want to
figure out the weird capacity issue that says the extfs (Linux)
partition of the usb drive is not what it should be. I've lost 14GB
somewhere.
