Most of you know that we do reply-to header munging on this list.
That's why even though you got this email from me, if you hit reply it
will go to nmglug at nmglug.org.
You can see the conversation of how everybody thought it was a neat idea
in the thread starting here:
http://balrog.nmglug.org/pipermail/nmglug/2003-October/000005.html
It's been a long time since anyone here posted a link to Chip Rosenthals
essay on why we shouldn't do it, so I'll take the opportunity:
http://www.unicom.com/pw/reply-to-harmful.html
And for completeness some dude's rebuttal/parody:

As you've guessed by now, I'm interested in how people feel about this
these days, I'm still habituated to just hitting reply, so if we were to
switch it I'm sure I'll wind up sending a few replies I intend for the
list to the auther, but the nice thing is you can resend those, but when
you accidentally send a private response to a list it's a pretty tough
trick to pull it back.
Besides we do have nice ctrl+L'ish reply-to-list buttons in most MUA's
these days right? And if you log in at
http://www.nmglug.org/mailman/options/nmglug you can set "Avoid
duplicate copies of messages?"=YES which would make others use of the
reply-all button work painless as well.
