First- I've had various versions of Linux not recognioze the moden. Ended up
with a US Robotics which worked well on both sides of a dual boot. I am
running Windows 2000 and Debian, and had to install drivers for Windows but
the Debian worked fine, after I set it up with a Dialup number.Normally I
only use dialyup if I am out on the road and can't get high speed access.

Second - What are yiou planning on to download ? If it is very big I hope
you have a good high speed connection.

By the way what type dialup modem do you have ? I assume you've checked for
drivers on
www.driversguide.com.
