Sam:
Thanks for the response, the modem I have is a usr 5639,literature says
driver are in 2.6 kernals.
Tried to dual boot a xp here with ubuntu last week, got excited and wiped out
five years of info plus some photos I would like to have kept.
My reason for wishing to dual with xp or vista is to have some type of
working hardware to access the internet until any bug a worked out .
Of course there is not guarantee,In the past I have travel from Taos to
Santa Fe for glug meetings and have been the only person present, now living
on a retirement budget it is more difficult to make the trip on the
speculation that willing knowledgable assistance may be available,so,my hope
was to confirm the possiblity of assistance for the Thursday night meeting,
particularly is there is a preexisting topic for the evening.
I have gotten out the Linux books still don't know much, enjoying trying to
make some sense out of it,where init take over have a bit of an idea, have
looked at the kernal map and basic kernal config, dont quite get the mbr or
glug loading specificw however trying to zero in on that, messed up the
simple dual boot install, lost a lot.Sam I am glad you are around and are
well,I appreciate your response.Best Regards. Anthony K
