Brian - That dist-upgrade looks plenty safe. If it breaks, Ill help
you fix it ;-)

Mark - I left gnome behind awhile ago for a more keyboard centric,
tiling, wm called awesome. I'm a little disconnected from the new
gnome. My only annoyance is that I use gnome-power-manager and they
removed options. Namely, the ability to not sleep when I shut the
laptop lid. Seems premature to release. Although, I have to remind
myself that its in testing. Can't wait for http://cut.debian.net/ to
get on its feet.
