[nmglug] Linux Install Fest Tuesday, April 23, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, The Hive, White Rock

Fellow GLUGsters,

It seems to me about time to make use of The Hive in White Rock for a  
Linux install-fest.  You're welcome to join in, or to pass on the  
invitation to potential Linuxers in the area.  We plan to focus on  
distributions of the Debian family this time around (including Ubuntu,  
Mint, Knoppix), and use Yumi to prepare install media.  I did an  
introductory presentation on Linux a few weeks ago, which was well  
received, so we anticipate a decent turnout for this install-fest.  Anyone  
who would like to participate, please get in touch with Dave Jones @ The  
Hive.

Linux Install Fest Tuesday Evening 6:00 to 8:00
Dear Geoff,


A Linux "Install Fest" workshop will be held next Tuesday (April 23)  
6:00pm to 8:00pm at The Hive!



Mark you calendars.  We will have Geoff Chesshire, Roy Nielsen, John  
Battles, and Kerri Thurston there to advise, guide and assist with this  
hands-on workshop.  Please plan to bring a computer (no Apples, please)  
and a USB flash drive of at least 8GB (16GB preferred) to install Linux  
on.  If you prefer, you can use an external hard drive instead of a flash  
drive.  Another USB flash drive of at least 4GB as installation medium  
would be helpful; otherwise you will need a DVD reader.  A 6 to 12 foot  
Ethernet cable would also be helpful, but not necessary.  If you plan to  
bring a desktop computer, please come a bit early so that you can get it  
set up by 6:00pm.


If you plan to attend this workshop, please call or e-mail Dave (660-6992,  
ferljones at yahoo.com) so that we can plan for the correct number of  
people.  Please indicate the type of computer (desktop, laptop, netbook)  
that you intend to bring, and its operating system (e.g, Windows 7,  
Windows 8).
